Consciousness-Raising Research Materials
Primary Research: As an MFA student at UIUC, my research aimed to address misinformation and lack of understanding surrounding women’s reproductive health. Using Consciousness-Raising groups, which are a feminist research method that is used to allow women to speak about their own experiences to facilitate change, I explored how sharing personal health narratives can demystify these topics and reduce harm on women’s bodies.

Personas Findings: Following the consciousness-raising group activity, I conducted an analysis of the discussions. It became evident that themes such as Family, Culture, Misinformation, and Religion held significant sway and were intricately intertwined with various facets of women’s health. Equipped with this insight, I crafted two distinct personas representing potential users and their respective needs.
